Sports Tyres
Made of soft rubber sports tyres are designed to be used on racetracks and have a relatively high operating temperature. As their name implies these are often mounted on sports motorcycles and don't have a lot of tread. They provide excellent grip, particularly when used on dry surfaces.
Touring Tyres
Due to their medium rubber touring tyres have a great grip and come with a lot of tread. These are designed to last much longer than sports tyres, which due to their soft rubber can get damaged easily. Moreover, touring tyres also have a lower operating temperature. They're best suitable for casual rides around the city, but can perform well on longer road trips as well.
Road Tyres
Road tyres have a low operating temperature and are often used for urban trips, but are also suitable for road trips and tours as well. Manufactured of hard rubber they provide very good grip and very durable. Road tyres come with a large amount of tread, thus delivering safe and comfortable rides on wet roads.
Cross Tyres
Featuring big studs cross tyres also know as all-terrain tyres are designed to be used on many different surfaces such as earth tracks and paths, the only exception being the road since they are not approved for road usage. They deliver excellent traction on soft terrains and their studs are designed to enhance the grip when riding on off-road surfaces.
Race Tyres
Race tyres also referred to as track tyres are designed specifically for riding on racetracks. They're generally made from soft rubber but the softness varies from one model to another and can be hard, medium or very soft. The term “hard” shouldn't be taken literally since a hard race tyre will be softer than say a road or sports one. Race tyres operate at the highest temperatures and due to their softness ware out quickly.
